The cycle of adoption of AI and generative AI specifically is very different from normal. Usually, tech leadership is pushing for adoption, but what is happening with AI is a classical "market pull" - business leaders are trying to lead and proactively sponsor AI adoption.
Is your tech department ready for this? Generally speaking, no. Their challenges are apparent: a need for more knowledge among key stakeholders (including in the tech department) and the low availability of relevant expertise and skills on the market.
Another interesting observation is that in most cases, businesses push for aggressive revenue- or efficiency-focused AI implementations when they are hardly ready to implement non-technology changes (as always). What I'm getting at is that the success of your result-oriented adoption of AI largely depends on your ability to align business, processes, people, and new technology enablers. And your organizational ability to do your "homework" with data and processes.
